Chris Creevy, MBE
3 August 2012
It is with great sadness that we share the news that Chris Creevy MBE, “Alcohol Support Worker Supreme” at Battersea Alcohol Service (BAS) has passed away after a short illness.
Chris was awarded the MBE in March 2011 for “services to the community of London” after being nominated by the service users at BAS. Prior to his time at BAS, Chris worked as a youth worker and also a manager of a children’s home. It is with admiration that we say that he spent most of his life in the service of other people.
One colleague described Chris as “a phenomenon in technicolour, his commitment, energy and passion would be remarkable in a 20 year old”
In typical fashion, Chris worked tirelessly for Battersea Alcohol Service until just five weeks ago, sharing his characteristic passion and enthusiasm with service users and staff and driving new initiatives for service users forward. He was a tremendous asset to the service and his humour, warmth, dedication and love will be sorely missed by service users and staff alike.
A funeral service will be held at Upminster Crematorium, 1.20pm Thursday 9 August 2012. Family's wishes are that contributions/donations be made via cheques payable to Whipps Cross Hospital and sent to. Irene Charter, The Margaret Centre, Whipps Cross University Hospital, Whipps Cross Road, Leytonstone. E11 1NR. Please include your name and address so they may send a receipt and thank you letter. Donations will be paid into their amenity fund to benefit Margaret Centre patients.
