Foundation66 Long Yard provides residential alcohol detoxification in the centre of London.

What we do

Long Yard is a unique 18-bedded residential detox which provides supervised alcohol withdrawal for dependent drinkers. Residents stay for up to three weeks. Many of our residents need a place of safety for stabilisation, full assessment and withdrawal from alcohol, as part of a complete care package.

The service is staffed by a highly-experienced team of practitioners providing 24 hour staff cover and registered with the Care Quality Commission.

How we work

Everyone admitted to Long Yard goes through the following stages:

An assessment of needs is conducted
A GP medical assessment is offered
We take a detailed history of the client, including social, family, legal, health and other factors
Where necessary we liaise with Social Services on the funding of future placements
Each resident is supported in their withdrawal using appropriate medication
Every client is allocated an individual keyworker

The environment we offer is welcoming, safe and supportive. The service emphasises the restoration and development of positive social contact between our residents, staff and the wider community.

Long Yard’s treatment programme

Our key aims are to lessen and contain anxieties which may occur during the withdrawal process and to look at residents’ alcohol misuse in an honest and objective way. Each resident’s progress is monitored against their individual care plan.
