North and Southwest Housing Team
NSW Housing team is an abstinence-based accommodation service for adults who have alcohol and drug problems in the boroughs of Camden, Hackney, Islington, and Lambeth. Residents must be abstinent, homeless, and able to live fairly independently. They must also want to address their drinking or drug problems.
What we do
We offer individualized partnership working with every service user through:
- The provision of fully-furnished, quality, excluded licenced accommodation.
- Support provision according to the identified needs of the individual
- Working with internal and external agencies to meet the individual's identified needs.
Who we help
We provide services for people with local connection in the London Boroughs of Camden, Hackney, Islington and Lambeth.
Our service is for adults (18 and over) who are able to live fairly independently. Residents must be:
- able to remain abstinent from alcohol and drugs for:
- 48 hours for first stage schemes and
- 12 weeks for second stage schemes
- willing to maintain abstinence and engage with agreed support plans.
Please note that we do not accept people on substitute prescriptions ("scripts").
There are no automatic exclusions; we make decisions on a case by case basis.
How we work
We work in partnership with the individual and other services to provide advice and support in:
- Assessing and identifying risk and needs, planning and periodically reviewing the plans and goals in one to one meetings with a worker.
- Working with the clients to enable them acquire skills to move on and live independently in the community e.g. Life skills, training, volunteering.
Referral
Referrals come to us through different services depending on the local borough.
- We will accept self-referrals from suitable individuals.
- Completion of our referral form is required.
