Westminster Community Alcohol Service
Westminster Community Alcohol Service provides an accessible, flexible, holistic health and advice service to clients and their families adversely affected by alcohol use. Wesminster CAS is a joint project of Foundation66 and the Central & North West London NHS Trust (CNWL)
What we do
At Westminster CAS, we offer a number of services for adults seeking help for their problem alcohol use. These include:
- Walk-in for assessments (no appointment necessary
- Preparation and referral for residential Alcohol detox
- Medical support to assist with community detoxification from alcohol
- Prescription of medication to reduce cravings and support abstinence
- Referrals to care managers for arranging residential rehab or intensive day program
- One-to-one counselling sessions
- Cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) for managing relapse, anxiety and depression
- Varied group programme including Aftercare.
- Complimentary therapies include Acupuncture, Qi Gong, Mindfulness & Meditation
- Referral to other services like Family Therapy or Mental Health services
Who we help
We provide alcohol services for:
- Adults living in Westminster with an alcohol problem and their close relatives
- No age restrictions for adults
- Specialist services/groups for BME and LGBT clients
How we work
We provide a multidisciplinary approach to treatment for alcohol problems and work to achieve reduced harm, controlled drinking or abstinence from alcohol use. This depends on the complexity of need and client choice, selecting from a wide range of interventions.
Referral
Those wishing to access our services can be referred by:
- GP's, Hospitals, drug counsellors
- Other professionals from the health and social care sector
- Hostels, criminal justice, probation, and other public sector organisations
Please note that we welcome self referrals from individuals every weekday morning Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 12 noon.
